The Program

To commence on the program you will be a second or third year (B.Com or B.Bus) accounting student. The duration of the Program is dependant on the number of hours undertaken with your employment, but expected to be 1-3 years. The program involves external or part time studies with full time or part time employment. Employment is therefore on-going with the program modelled on the graduate learning pathway.

 

Your first week will involve an induction. Throughout the program you will follow a learning pathway to help you understand our business and what is expected of you as an accountant in public accounting.

The type of work you will be exposed to includes assisting with various compliance (Tax, BAS, PAYG), auditing of large and small enterprises, cash flows, taxation and GST compliance, financial planning and superannuation.

Training, Support & Development

Development at McConachie Stedman is all about providing opportunity to assist you realise your potential. Development is also about responsibilities, challenges, opportunities, asking questions and learning from practical experiences.

You will be assisted by team members while employed under the Graduate Program. Your development will include a combination of on-the-job experience, mentoring, in-house professional development programs, we well as regular feedback.

At the completion of your degree and within an appropriate timeframe, it is expected that you will commence your preferred professional body membership (e.g. CPA or CA) qualification. McConachie Stedman gives you the choice with either professional body. Financial support, study/exam leave and mentoring is provided to all junior accountants.

Remuneration & Benefits

Salary will be negotiated with successful candidates. Benefits include paid leave for all degree course exams, as well as future CPA or CA program modules.

The Selection Process

Applications are open all year, pending the current number of Trainee and Graduate Accountants employed with the firm.

Interviews will be conducted with short listed candidates.

Referee checks will be undertaken prior to a final decision being made.

Psychological testing may be used as part of the selection process.

Offers for placement are expected to be made within six weeks of your application. Commencement dates will be negotiated with successful applicants.
