The following employment options are available for all accounting students.
- Graduate & Trainee Programs
- USQ’s Work Integrated Learning course (BUS3000)
- McConachie Stedman Accounting Scholarship (USQ)
- USQ Career Fair, Toowoomba
The Graduate Accountant Program involves full time employment at the completion of your degree, and a learning pathway that develops accounting skills over time. As part of the program, graduates are exposed to different aspects of accounting and financial services. The pathway is based on learning milestones that provide young accountants with development goals in line with their career path.
To commence on the Trainee Accountant Program you will be a 2nd or 3rd year (B.Com or B.Bus) student studying accounting. The program follows the same pathway as the graduate program, and is based on the learning milestones, although the time to develop his or her skills is dependant on the hours worked per week.
The key variation between the programs:
Graduates are employed on a full time permanent basis
- Accounting students usually secure employment during their third year of a degree, and commence employment shortly after graduation.
Trainees are employed with the intention of permanent employment, while completing university.
-
Students study part time, either externally or attending lectures, with full time or part time employment. The key difference is the flexibility we provide to students who are ready to join the workforce.
